Greetings Earth, today, in Sci-Fi Month, we will be reviewing a film so out of this world that... uh, well... forget this, it's Wall-E! Image as found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WALL-E
Yes, how could we do Sci-Fi month without this Pixar classic. You know, when I wanted to do Sci-Fi month, this is the first film that came to mind. It is considered by some to be the best animated movie ever. I FIND THAT TO BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT! Uh, I mean, yea, this rocks. But why does this rock, even though Wall-E collects trash? (If he wanted trash he should've seen Fantastic Mr. Fox) Well, let's dive right into Wall-E. Ow, he's made of medal, won't that hurt? So first of all, let's talk about the obvious main character... the cockroach. Yea, the cockroach rocks, he gets trampled and steps on, but he always comes right back up. The cockroach, awesome! Ok, the cockroach is only on screen for about 1 minute at the most, we're talking about Wall-E. Now, he's a silent robot who, well, he's a silent robot, but he's filled with so much heart that you're rooting for him all the way. It feels like he really is alive, which is one confusing thing, I don't know if these robots are alive or not? They act like they have emotions and they have their own intentions, but I'm not too sure if those are real emotions? But, the mystery does add on to his charm, just like Eve. Eve is a flying laser wielding robot, she's awesome! So, what other main characters are there... well, none. Sure, there's the captain of that big ship and Auto, and they're great but there's not much you can say about them either. So, what is the movie about? Well, Wall-E is the last robot of his kind, meant to clean up the Earth while the humans are away. Kind of like the maid of the planet. Then, he meets Eve, a probe to check if life can sustain on Earth yet. After Eve leaves with a plant Wall-E found, Wall-E follows Eve to the ship where all of the humans live, which robots run and humans are fat blobs who only get around with their chairs and never even seen the outside world. So, they all turned into stay at home dads, that's the worst state of humanity. What I love two things about the plot, one is that the first half is pretty much done in silence, which might bore some kids but I personally love it. Though it does go on for a while, and you will be anxiously waiting for Eve to come. Second, is that this all could happen a billion years later. The Earth could become a lifeless waste and humans fat blobs not able to leave the screen. They could make this technoligy and robots might develop emotions. This could all happen! The only thing I'm suprised not to see is a time machine. So, my final thoughs on this film, well, you know, but I'll get into the specifics. Plot - 94/100 It really is amazing and realistic. Pixar tried something new, and though it isn't for everybody, I found it incredible. Characters - 79/100 Though they don't give us a lot of characters, the 2 main characters are also incredible and that's where they keep the focus. Emotion - 93/100 For a film about robots, this really is incredible. It's like you can look inside their heads, but let's hope they don't, we don't want robot gore. Animation - 97/100 I'm not overreacting, this might be some of the best CGI I've ever seen, by far Pixar's best. the movements are smooth and beautifle. Overall - 91/100 Out of all the films I ever had to review, this might be the best. Yes, definantly up there in Pixar's best. I really can find no problems with this film. So, Sci-Fi month has a good start so far, I do wonder what is next. Well, since this is a positive review, you might want me to review something I haven't seen yet but am dreading the day I have to review it. Well, I won't tell you, good day and good night. Ok, spolier alert it's this Image as found on
